The General Directorate of Shipyards under the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure has announced that a new regulation is planned regarding customs exemptions for maritime transport vehicles. In the official statement, it was recalled that customs exemption is currently granted for equipment and operational supplies brought from foreign ports by air and sea transport vehicles for their own use, or sent on behalf of such vehicles, upon their entry into free circulation.

In line with the relevant provisions of the legislation, it was stated that a regulatory amendment is planned to establish a new exemption code specifically for maritime transport vehicles and to enable companies to be registered under this exemption code.

Within this framework, companies wishing to benefit from the exemption will be required to have their Tax Identification Numbers (TIN) and company titles registered in the BİLGE (Computerized Customs Activities) System of the Ministry of Trade.
